Moree’ is an Indigenous word meaning “long water hole”. Before white settlement, the area was occupied by the Kamilaroi people whose descendants still reside in the town and surrounding areas.
The town of Moree has a population of roughly 10,000 people and is located approximately 90Km south of the Queensland border on the junction of the Newell and Gwydir Highways, 665Km north west of Sydney.
In terms of Tourism, Moree is promoted as the Artesian Spa Capital of Australia. The town has a popular, hot artesian spa bath complex that attracts thousands of visitors every year.
BY CAR
Travelling north on the Newell Highway heading into Moree, you will get to the Moree Airport on your left. Continue past the airport (for approx 1.5km) and take the first left, which is Amaroo Drive. The Amaroo Tavern is approx 200 metres down Amaroo Drive on your right … look for the Big Plane out the front!
BY TRAIN
The Northern Tablelands Explorer departs Sydney daily, travelling to Moree via Newcastle, on through the Hunter Valley and through the historic rail centre of Werris Creek.
BY PLANE
Qantas operate 2 flights per day to/from Sydney via Narrabri.

The Moree water park is a facility that caters for all water sports from the competitive water skier to a family wanting a swim on a hot afternoon.
The Moree Water Park includes two tournament standard ski lakes built in compliance with international standards and a recreational circuit lake almost 2.5 klms around.
